Class at Sea facilitates student field trips on the waters of Puget Sound. We help educators organize and produce successful and inspiring experiences for students of all ages by providing opportunities for direct hands-on learning at affordable rates.

Class At Sea is dedicated to providing student access to the sea. We help teachers match educational needs with the right vessels, equipment and programs.

Arranging a field trip at sea can be a daunting task without proper knowledge. We make things easy for educators by providing the information they need to make informed decisions.

Captain Jerry Adams:
Principal, Maritime Education Consultant

Class At Sea is managed by Jerry Adams, an experienced captain who has logged thousands of hours on North Pacific waters from California to Alaska. With over 40 years in marine science research, commercial fishing, maritime engineering and charter service, Captain Adams has the experience to help educators with developing exceptional learning programs.

Over his extensive career, Adams has served as engineer aboard NOAA ships as well as large commercial fishing vessels including the Norpac and North Command. He has operated vessels in extreme sea conditions from Sitka to Nome and west to Dutch Harbor. Adams has extensive knowledge of the Washington Coast, Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. Captain Adams has operated and maintained the research vessel PS over the last decade.

As a knowledgeable fisheries consultant, Adams has owned and operated numerous vessels including offshore commercial fishing trollers working in Washington. His fisheries experience includes King Crab fishing in the Aleutian Islands, Salmon and bottom fishing on the Washington Coast and countless feild trip expeditions on Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.

Jerry grew up yachting and exploring in the most exposed and remote areas of Canada and Alaska. He is an accomplished cook and has an excellent track record entertaining and guiding guests.
